Jails are going vegetarian! Healthy, cost effective and eco friendly!
I had a great talk with the Faith Formation Director at our church today and we got on the subject of fasting. He does it twice a week while I practice a pescatarian lifestyle (fish and veggies) on an ongoing basis. I recommend to my yoga students a "Meatless Monday" to get them used to sacrifice once a week and a nice cleanse. Imagine the savings on groceries with 52 meatless meals a year or more! Not to mention the awareness it brings to self preservation as well as preservation of animals and the planet.
I challenge you to try one day a week during ordinary time vs. perhaps once a year during a religious season or dieting. Teach your children to live a life of wellness and increase their chances of a lower risk of cancer and a longer life!
